The court returns the registrar of domains “Registerfly” to the former owner.

According to Businessweek, on Thursday, March 8, the US District Court decided to return control of the Registerfly domain registrar Kevin Medina, his former head, who was removed from his position on February 12 by two other members of the board of directors.

Medina was the chief executive officer of the company since its foundation in 2000 until February of this year. For a year, ICANN has received complaints about poor customer service, and three months ago drew the company's attention to “serious irregularities” in its work. On February 21, ICANN issued a formal warning to the company, threatening to de-accredit, if the company did not correct all the flaws by March 14. After some time, on March 6, the Registerfly website suddenly closed and reopened the next day, after John Naruszewicz, another member of the board, was able to take control of the company. In a court case, Narushevich accused Medina of having stolen the company’s money as payment for two Cadillacs, a penthouse in Miami, escort services and liposuction since the middle of last year. Medina, in turn, denied the use of the company's funds for personal purposes and accused Narushevich of fraudulently seizing control of the company.

After a half hour meeting, the district judge ruled in favor of Medina and declared the share certificates in the hands of Narushevich invalid. John has no plans to appeal. He said: “We lost - it's over. The company will fall apart from day to day and a million domain names will be lost. It's a shame".

At this time, it is unclear how this ruling will affect the future of the company itself and more than 200,000 people who used its services. To date, owners of more than 75,000 domains have already lost access to their websites. This happened with the blog "Internet stuff", which has already been written on Habrahabr, but which has now received the domain back.
