Microsoft invites students to participate in the student conference "Microsoft Technologies in Theory and Practice of Programming"
If you are engaged in scientific work or plan to enroll in graduate school or defend a thesis - you probably know that the results of the work are usually reported at scientific conferences and published in collections of papers. Even if you do not do scientific work, you will probably agree that it is wrong to do something interesting and not tell anyone about it. It is necessary to make others necessarily know what interesting projects you are doing - whether it is programming for the sake of a hobby in the evenings, coursework or a thesis or some interesting project at work.
Microsoft helps students and graduate students to share the results of their research and projects by co-organizing the conference series “ Microsoft Technologies in Theory and Practice of Programming ”. The 2009 conference series will be held in March-April 2009 in 6 Russian cities: Moscow (MAI) , St. Petersburg (SPbSPU) , Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) , Tomsk (TPU) , Taganrog (SFU), and Chelyabinsk (SUSU ) .
Submission of abstracts of reports and applications for participation - in February (for more accurate dates, see the websites of universities-organizers). Nonresident speakers whose reports are included in the list of works receive a travel grant to cover the cost of travel and accommodation. Abstracts of the report, selected by the program committee, will be published free of charge in the collection.

Please note that the best works (1st place in each section) can be recommended by the Program Committee for publication in the journal “ Information Technologies ” ( recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission for publication of the results of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science). The selection and publication of works will be free of charge, on a general basis. The recommendation of the Program Committee will be taken into account when reviewing the work. Also during the conference will be held a competition of works, and the authors of the best works will be awarded with prizes and gifts from Microsoft.
Thus, the conference is not only an opportunity to tell its fellow students from other universities about their interesting problems, but also to supplement the list of their achievements with scientific publication, incl. in perspective, in the journal included in the list of HAC (such publications are necessary for graduate students to defend a thesis).
