What is a patrol and what does it eat?

Hello to all!
Recently on Habré was published an article about entering in the English section of Wikipedia pre-moderation of edits. Similar articles were on the tape, and on Gazeta.Ru, and many more where. Often, after reading them, you get the feeling that the intended mechanism is full pre-moderation, and without the permission of “people in caps” the material you added will not be shown to the reader. This is not true.

Now I, one of the “people in the caps” =), will tell you in more detail, as I promised , about the patrol mechanism that they are going to introduce in the English section, and which has already been working for six months in ours.

Technically anticipated innovation is an expansion of the MediaWiki engine called FlaggedRevs .
After the inclusion of the extension, 3 classes of articles appear - patrolled, obsolete and non-patrolled; as well as 2 additional flags for editors - patrolling and auto-patrolling.

Versions of articles

The patrol version assumes that the article is framed, there is no obvious vandalism, slander of living people, spam ( Full list of requirements ). The flag on the article is set patrolling after checking for compliance with the requirements.
Outdated - an article that was otpatrulirova, but after installing the flag in the article amended.
Unpatched article - an article whose quality was not evaluated at all.
')
Flags for participants

Patroller may mark the article as reliable and remove the flag from the article. The formal requirements for the assignment of such a flag are 1 month of experience and more than 100 edits, the conformity of its edits to the requirements for patrolled versions.
Auto Patrol - a member whose edits are automatically marked as patrolled.
Both flags are assigned by administrators after discussion (or without it under the personal responsibility of bona fide participants).

How it works

The article can be transferred to the "stable" state. After that, by default, the user will be shown a patrolled version with the ability to view the “draft”. Now in Russian Wikipedia there are 3 stabilized pages - the main page, and 2 articles on which the mechanism is sometimes tested. A full translation of all articles on stabilization is not planned. Those. Now all the changes you make to the article will be immediately visible to everyone.

How personally can you use it?

For registered users, the “local” inclusion of stabilization for all articles is possible. Those. you will always be shown the default, reliable, authentic version of the article, if any.

Thank you for your attention, I will be happy to answer any questions.
I can continue the educational program on Wikipedia, highlight issues of copyright, writing articles and other things.
Now the draft post is in the drafts “How to create an article about your company in Wikipedia”, if this is interesting to the community, I can add it.
