Today, April 26, is World Intellectual Property Day . On April 26, 1970, the convention that established the World Intellectual Property Organization ( WIPO ) entered into force. This is a specialized agency of the United Nations whose activities are aimed at developing a balanced and accessible international system of intellectual property.
The holiday itself was established by the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization and has been celebrated since 2001 to “raise awareness of the role of intellectual property in our daily lives, and to mark the contribution of innovators and artists to the development of society around the world.”
A new message or topic related to the event is selected annually. This year, attention is focused on promoting green innovation as the basis for a sustainable future.
