Smart letters

Truly semantics of the future. Although these technologies in programming, due to the complexity of implementation, are still quite poorly developed, work in this area is carried out continuously and on all fronts.

For several years, scientists at Stanford University have developed a semantic e-mail system and achieved great success. The peculiarity of their development “Smart email” is that when sending a letter to a person you do not need to specify his address , but instead just describe the person himself. For example, "The head of such and such a department, such and such an organization." The system automatically analyzes the description, studying the phrases and connections between words, and searches for information on all the databases available to it, which have accumulated a great many in the network. The project leader, Professor Michael Gineseret, claims that the system works excellently and is soon going to conduct closed testing with 6000 people.

If everything goes smoothly, then in his opinion in a few years we will not need address books at all. Although I personally find it easier to write 15 characters of the mailing address than to describe a person. On the other hand, there is no need to find, store or store these addresses. Probably such a system in the first place will be convenient for corporate mail of large companies. Well, in the second, the legion of spammers may be very interesting ...

Anyway, the project is very interesting and significant for the whole field of semantic search, the development of which will bring great benefit to all.
