Measurement Laboratory (
M-Lab ) is an open, distributed server platform for researchers designed to deploy measurement tools. The main objective ofM-Lab is to expand the study of the network and provide users with useful information about their connection to the Internet. By increasing the transparency of the Internet,M-Lab helps to maintain cleanliness on the Internet.
Many researchers are already developing tools that allow users to explore their connection using a server locatedsomewhere on the Internet. TheM-Lab platform will assist in the distribution of these tools.
M-Labs helpsresearch scientists by providing distributed servers and opportunities for use in research. For each tool, a resource will be allocated on theM-Lab platform to improve the quality of measurements. Tools for use on servers will be openly licensed and managed, which will allow third parties to develop their own client measurement software.
All data collected in theM-Lab will be available to the research community and will expand the research network.
