In the introductory part I would like to immediately outline some points of the further parts.

For a start, about what all this will be. It will be about rip video with dvd (maybe this knowledge can be applied to bluer, but I don’t have the last one yet, and I can’t say anything about it), i.e. in other words, we will get rid of interlace, compress the video in h264 / xvid and shove it all into mkv / mp4. There is a possibility that the resulting video can be played on iPhone / iPod. I do not have such devices. I hope readers will check. :)

First, I’ll say right away that I’m not going to describe utilities for automated compression, for example AutoGK. There are quite enough articles on them, and, in general, they are not so difficult not to understand them. Unfortunately, the concept of “quality rip” and similar utilities are incompatible. You will have to download a whole bunch of utilities and learn how to use them (all programs for MS Windows, for Linux have their own specifics). On some parts of the brain, perhaps, boils, especially the part about the deinterlace, I'm afraid that I myself will not be able to describe the situation quite fully the first time. Very extensive topic. But, despite all the difficulties, I will try to describe everything in sufficient detail and with pictures. ^ _ ^ At the output, we will learn to receive a video, which sometimes even an experienced eye can hardly distinguish from the original.

')

Secondly, I ask you not to criticize very actively for choosing those or other utilities and ways of working with them. There may be a whole bunch of different options, but I chose this and more or less debugged it.

I will try to lay out new parts at intervals of three to four days. Delays depend on the number of comments on the previous parts, the time for their correction and my work schedule.

Comments are welcome suggestions about what you would like to see in this series of articles.
