Wow factor "Vista": a holiday for ordinary people

In fact, the word “wow” was never part of Bill Gates’s everyday dictionary. Previously, there was, but now he says that this very word best embodies all that Microsoft developers have implemented in the new operating system.

In his opinion, ordinary users will say this word many times. The first “wow” will surely break out when the average person sees the Aero three-dimensional graphical interface. The second “wow” is when it launches the integrated full-text search on all documents on the computer. Then, says Gates, a whole series of “wow” will start in different situations, depending on the type of PC: gaming, student, corporate or “for mommy”. For example, "Mommy" will be delighted with the new, colorful games.

Today, Tuesday, January 30, 2007, managers of supermarkets in 70 countries around the world finally unpacked containers with boxes of Wndows Vista, as well as with new computers, and took all this wealth into the trading rooms. It would seem that something special, because "Vista" for a long time can be downloaded from the Internet? But no, today's presentation of “Vista” caused a real stir. In Tokyo, the largest computer store Bic Camera Department Store formed a queue of about 80 people, reports AP . These consumers were the first in the world who wanted to experience the “wow factor” from Bill Gates. To whip up passion, a big screen was set up in front of the store, where the countdown went: how many minutes and seconds remained until midnight when the sale of Windows Vista began.

But the Japanese are not even close to the level of pleasure from the "wow factor" with the residents of the United States, the most advanced country in this respect, which, in fact, invented this very factor. Billboards with this “Wow” were hung everywhere in American cities. And the advertising worked: crowds of people gathered around CompUSA and Best Buy across America. Big screens were placed on the squares, where the aforementioned speech of Bill Gates was broadcast. Shops specifically changed their schedule and worked until late at night (from 0 am to 2 am) to serve everyone. They even decorated the trade halls with balloons - they created a festive atmosphere. For ordinary people, Vista is really a holiday .

“When people think about their PCs, they think about Windows even more than about the manufacturer of this PC. The operating system determines how the computer looks, how you work with it, what applications are available, ”said Bill Gates. And he is absolutely right.
