(Not) perfect code

It was this review that I left first on the website of the publishing house Peter, where he did not undergo pre-moderation, and then on Ozone, where he was promptly removed. I do not want to engage in controversy with the moderators of these sites (although in my opinion, the review, albeit a hard one, does not contradict the published rules of "Peter" and "Ozone"). The meaning of the topic is different:

1. Now I begin to understand why on Amazon almost any book you can read a number of interesting reviews and make up some opinion, and on Ozone one or two reviews is already an event. Reviews are hard to remove.
2. I do not want to create topics of evil, but really want a person who wants to buy this edition, had the opportunity to read at least one detailed commentary about it on the Internet, and not to buy a cat in a bag.
3. I believe that we deserve high-quality translations, and cases of overt non-professionalism and hack-work deserve a reaction. Especially if we are talking about a large and respected publishing house, who has taken on the translation of the book of another large and respected publishing house.
If someone is interested in the details of the horror I read, I can share it, but to be honest, I don’t want to re-read these pages a second time. The contents of the original book, too, let's not discuss, there are a lot of nonsense (in my opinion), but we are not talking about them anyway.
I also foresee comments in the “read original” style. Yes, this is a good suggestion. But you know, I still enjoy reading a book in my native language. In addition, until recently, books in Russian (translations) were cheaper than originals. But I am already inclined to reconsider this decision. The recently released translation of “XUnit Test Patterns: Refactoring Test Code” by Gerard Meszaros is already more expensive, and I tend to order the original version on Amazon, and not overpay for the translation, and then also get upset ...

The book has caused very mixed feelings - the authors managed to do something about it, but something amusing at best.
But I would like to focus on something else: the translation project is surprisingly careless and unprofessional. In general, I condescendingly treat translators, but not in this case. Not only is the complete ignorance of the basic terminology sometimes demonstrated, which forces one to wade through insane phrases to the truth, it also gives the impression that the editor did not read the text at all after the translation. For example, one translator writes that Jon Bentley is “John Bentley”, and another, in the next chapter, that “Ion Bentley”. Why did the editor overlook this? And such examples, alas, a great many. Since the early nineties of the last century, when unnamed pirated books translated by students in the evenings appeared in stores, I did not see anything so terrible :(
