And again ICQ.

I wanted to once again raise the topic of ICQ.
I understand that there are a lot of topics on this topic, but they all eat one thing and they scold AOL.
I want to take the other side and talk a little about it.

So I can not understand what to scold "AOL". What did he do? Trying to make money on what belongs to him? What's bad about it? We all do that. Nobody said that ICQ is an open protocol. So everything is fine. For example, after the last jambs with ICQ, I didn’t want to wait for the new qip (miranda or whatever) to be released and I put icqlite at work. I looked at him and did not understand what was wrong there. Everything is beautiful, neat, everything works, intuitive. That everyone is so scared in it.

I read many forums and blogs where the current situation with icq was discussed. One and all scold “AOL” and “frighten” the transition to jabber.

Well, if you do not like the situation with icq, make your own but such that everyone goes there.
For example:
Agree to all (if possible) alternative client developers on a new messaging service and embed and auto-register their clients in this service with the same number and password and transfer the contact list, without asking any users without exception whether they want it or not. I've looked at my contact list for example, I have 95% on alternative clients and I think everyone has it. Make a resource on which everything is clearly and clearly explained. Why and why made a new service. And when sending a message to see if there is such a number in the new service, if there is, then send it to it, if not, then to icq with the same number and that's it, the icq will gradually go down in history. And no one will go anywhere with simple calls to switch to Jabber.

That's what I think about this. Waiting for comments.
