Musicians want to extract music from the brain

The effect of music on the brain is well known and has long been studied. The musicians themselves, perhaps better than others, are aware of the extraordinary power of such an impact. Under the influence of musical rhythms, a person can calm down or get aroused, get inspiration or fall into a depressed state. Because of the music, the nature of the brain waves, which are captured by special equipment, varies greatly.

But what will happen if not the brain will succumb to the effects of music, and vice versa - music will be composed under the influence of brain waves? Such an experiment is conducted by Luciana Haill, reports Wired . This pretty girl works as a consultant in neuro-linguistic programming and is interested in studying the brain.

To record the radiation of his own brain, Luciana uses a medical encephalograph. It transmits radiation from the prefrontal cortex to a computer, where it is transformed into musical melodies, and is also displayed on the screen in 3D.

Radiation at different frequencies generates sounds of different frequencies.

Luciana Heill and about three dozen other musicians participate in the popular science tour “The Future of Music” . Traveling in the UK, they show the most unusual and amazing experiments with music. Any spectator can agree to put electrodes on his head - and he will join the universal musical symphony.

Such experiments have been carried out for about 20 years, but now they have become truly massive. Software has become available for musicians, which uses sophisticated algorithms. And musicians can use this software, even without understanding the technology. In such conditions, these are created masterpieces.

Luciana Heill has been using various instruments to scan the brain and generate music for 14 years. Now she uses the Mac OS X operating system, where there is a protocol for transferring events between applications - it is perfect for this task.
