We connect ICQ through SOCKS
I just managed to properly connect with ICQ! I am not a sysadmin, I am rather weak with networks, so I don’t know the strengths or weaknesses of this solution. Found it by chance.
So, I have Ubuntu 8.10, I use pidgin for ICQ. Ukrainian IP was also blocked. Decided to install Tor .
In ubuntu, just execute:
we wait until it is installed, then in the ICQ account settings, on the “Additional” tab, select the SOCKS 5 proxy type and enter the node 127.0.0.1 and port 9050.

As far as I understand, Tor is also available for Windows and Mac, but I haven’t tested it; unsubscribe if it works there.
