I consider myself a Web 2.0 application developer. And sometimes I ask myself, what is under the whole marketing hype of this term, what is the salt of this phenomenon. For me, it's about people, not technology. Web 2.0 is a big paradigm shift.
This trend began with the Internet, but now there are already visible manifestations of “prosuming” (
prosuming ), total customization of services (customization), and content created by users (UGC, user-generated content). The reason this happens is the increased complexity of the world:
- The roles of the consumer and the manufacturer are mixed
- It is impossible to make high-quality products "from the stick"
Proseuryrism and voluntary content creation are key features of Web 2.0. Characteristics of People 2.0. I deliberately emphasize that this is a new generation of people who can really use the tools of Web 2.0. People with different motivations and changed qualities.
At first, the new tools captured the entertaining and social areas of human relations. But a new generation of people do not want to separate work and life. Thus, Thinking 2.0 has come into business. And when new principles were applied to business, the old paradigm showed how strong it still is in the minds of people. For example, pro-businessism in business leads to the fact that the roles of a manager and an employee become blurred, mixed.

In this situation are new companies, “
Companies 2.0 ” (Enterprise 2.0). Tools do not change people, or change them very slowly. Alas, each tool can be used by people from both paradigms. Moreover, you cannot use any tool separately from the command. And here is the place for the battle of ideologies, to test their beliefs for strength.
The most convenient GTD-system can be used either to increase productivity, or to increase "performance monitoring". There is no way for managers to tell them how to use certain tools. They always use them in the best way: the way they think. Tracking time? Reminders of tasks? Micro blogging? Any tool, any message can be used not as intended.
But, fortunately, Company 2.0 is gradually gaining momentum in the brain. And the situation is changing. I am even ready, reluctantly, to look a little further into the future. It seems that in addition to the current services of "cooperation", we will see the emergence of new tools. I would call them “collaborative prosuming, collaborative prosuming,” new ways to command artifacts. But these tools, of course, require another paradigm shift :)
