Update: at the moment, no one was able to flash, the flash driver says that the hard disk is the wrong model: “Error: Specific model not found”. We are waiting for updates on the site of the sigate. Update2:
Suspicions began to appear as early as December of last year, when Seagate 7200.11 series drives with the same symptoms began to come to service centers more and more often - when you turn on a computer, the hard drive is not detected at all or it is determined, but with a volume of 0 GB. At the same time, both the electronics and the disk mechanics are perfectly intact. As it turned out, the problem lies in the so-called translator table, which is responsible for recalculating the actual physical addressing of a disk into a logical one - this table may collapse due to an error in the firmware of the disks, which will lead to the symptoms described above. At the same time, all user data on the disk remains safe and sound, but is no longer available for the computer.
Update3: Some hard drives were successful, but for many people the situation is like this:
I asked. ST3500320AS, SD15, 3 pieces in a row. The flasher did not swear, flooded the new firmware SD1A into each disk, reported the success, asked to turn the computer off and on. Although these disks now start, they are defined as IDE Hard Disk seconds after 30 hangs on each port, in the BIOS, you can even see the type of ST3500320AS, but the controller doesn’t see them at all. Pieces of iron are shorter.
Update4: “500GB disks (ST3500320AS, STM3500320AS) cannot be flashed to SD1A for now - the disks are being killed. Disks 640-1000GB should be sewn normally, but it is better to wait for the fix. Files with firmware were removed from the official server before finding out the reasons ”(c) doomer (Data Recovery Expert, HDDScan author) Update5: Guide on known firmware. Update6: The problem with the firmware has been solved, all the above firmware have been tested and workable.
