The most interesting on CES 2007. Part two

In the first part of the final article, we have already reviewed some of the events at CES 2007 , which are interesting from the point of view of the Internet economy and Internet technologies. Now let's look at the “hardware” side of the exhibition.

Of course, in terms of hype at CES 2007, no one can compare with Apple and the notorious iPhone. Steve Jobs really managed to “steal the show” from everyone else, and competitors still have to learn such an effective PR.

However, besides the iPhone, the exhibition had a lot of interesting things. Let us dwell only on some devices that have attracted our attention. Fans of loud listening to music on the player will be delighted when they see the Samsung K5 MP3 Player . If you push the case of this player, it opens up huge speakers, which, judging by their size, will consume the battery charge in minutes.

If the surrounding noise began to annoy you, you will have to use the Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth Headset high-tech headset, which uses some kind of military noise cancellation technology.

Not at the exhibition without large screens. For example, HP showed a whole range of new models, including a 47-inch high-definition 1080p LCD TV MediaSmart , equipped with a WiFi receiver for communicating with a computer.

Another remarkable device in its simplicity was the Belkin company. This is a cooling pad for a laptop , powered by USB.

In the war of Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats, the scales leaned toward HD-DVD. The fact is that representatives of porno-studios (their gathering traditionally takes place at CES) made the unanimous decision to distribute their products exclusively in HD-DVD format , abandoning Blu-ray. They argued that HD-DVDs are cheaper, they are easier to make, and this format wins in terms of the number of players among the population (for example, Xbox 360 prefixes). As it is known, several decades ago, pornography studios “buried” the videotape standard Betamax, when they preferred cheap and lower quality VHS, but then the situation on the video cassette market was completely different.

In the meantime, equipment manufacturers tired of the war formats are starting to produce hybrid devices. LG presented a combined DVD player of HD DVD and Blu-ray at the exhibition. Alternatively, the difference between the standards can cover the Total HD disc, which is able to broadcast content on devices of both formats.

Of course, this list of interesting new products is not exhausted. Philips radio telephones with color displays and VoIP support, which do not outwardly differ from the most modern cell phones, remained unmentioned a huge number of Skype phones , a whole bunch of robots , batteries for laptops of record capacity , an open standard for AMD miniature DTX motherboards, several foldable PDAs (like Seamless S-XGen Ultra Mobile Portable Computer in the photo on the right), a 1 terabyte hard drive, and more.

At CES 2007, there was also a separate Innovations Plus pavilion for various innovative companies. Photos of the most interesting prototypes can be viewed.
