Computer games will form the basis of the school program

Professor of pedagogy David Shaffer (David Williamson Shaffer), author of the book How computer games help children learn , strongly recommends that modern schools review the basic principles of training. In his opinion , the current education system was formed at the end of the XIX century and was originally intended for the education of industrial workers.

Now, after more than a hundred years, the circumstances are completely different. Western society no longer needs workers (the world factory moved to Southeast Asia), but there is an acute shortage of intellectual workers: engineers, programmers, journalists, designers and other creative individuals who are capable of innovation. All of them have to be professional PC users - that’s why you need to teach your computer from childhood.

For maximum development of the child’s brain, says Schaffer, it is advisable to load it in multitasking mode with current tasks: children need to listen to music during computer games, watch videos, surf the Internet, send messages to each other using computers and mobile phones. All this simultaneously with the study of biology, history, physics and other standard subjects.

The governments of the UK and Singapore have already developed educational programs that include the use of computer games and other technological tools in the school curriculum. Moreover, computer games are actively used to train soldiers in the army, as well as to train employees in some corporations.

David Schaffer and his assistants have developed a number of computer games that you can start using in the educational process right now. Among them are special games that teach journalism , urban planning and GIS , genetic engineering and other exciting subjects.
