Which is better: 32 or 64 bits?

My beech has 64 bit processor. The manufacturer has installed 32 bit Win. I tried to figure out - does it make sense to put 64 bits. They say it makes no sense, supposedly not all the drivers are under 64, and moreover, most applications work under 32 bits, so there will be no gain anyway, but there will only be trouble.

I do not understand the main thing in this story - why then do we need these 64 bits? If there is no resource in it, then why produce such processors and such a system? If there is a real gain in this, then why don't they release drivers and applications for 64 bits? This technology was not born a month ago, and there is no movement there or here. Why?
