Federated Media earns a million a month

The achievement of a round sum was announced by John Battell, summing up the results of the outgoing year (see clause No. 17). John Battell is a well-known journalist, writer and entrepreneur, one of the most respected experts in the field of online media. It is he who is at the helm of the Federated Media advertising agency (FM), which brings together the interests of elite bloggers.



A year ago, John Battell doubted whether the FM business model would be in demand. Time has shown that doubts were completely superfluous. Over the past 12 months, the FM network has exceeded the most optimistic forecasts for revenues by 30%, and in the fall of 2006 crossed the milestone of a million dollars a month .



The elite blogging FM network continues to expand. Already, it includes about a hundred sites with monthly traffic of more than 300 million page views (eight times a year). By mid-January, it is expected to connect several more well-known sites, which themselves are asking to ad network. It looks like the FM business model is working fine.



Among advertisers are Intel, Microsoft, GM, HP, BMW, Hitachi and many other well-known companies. Order advertising in the FM system is easy: choose the desired sites, size and number of ads.

If you look at the FM team and their business, it becomes clear which model was used to create the Russian company SUP-Fabrik , except that the Russians took a different path. Instead of a personal invitation from popular bloggers, they simply “bought out” a web site where bloggers publish their texts. I wonder if such a “technical” version will be successful? Has the Russian business matured to buy advertising on blogs? This we will see soon.
