A computer will come to every home by mail.

In a short time computers will come to the Russian market at a low price. It will happen in the framework of the large-scale program “Computer - in every home”. Its goal is to make computer equipment more accessible for residents of small cities, towns, rural areas, remote and hard-to-reach regions of the country.

The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation in conjunction with the FSUE Russian Post , Intel and Microsoft , Interfax reports . The approximate launch date is February 2007.

You can order a computer and receive it within a week at the “Post of Russia”, which has more than 42 thousand branches in the country. Residents of large cities will be able to get their purchase in one day. It is reported that plans to sell cars in three configurations. “Two options are ordinary computers with system units, a monitor and a keyboard, while one of the configurations will be more powerful in terms of performance,” said Leonid Reiman, Minister of Information Technology and Communications of the Russian Federation. The third option, he said, is a laptop. The minister noted that all the equipment will be comparatively available - at least 10% cheaper than "shop" counterparts.

On the portal of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications today they have to announce a competition among Russian PC manufacturers to participate in the program “Computer - to every home”. It is known that initially they wanted to entrust the production part of the project to foreign manufacturers. Now, according to Leonid Reiman, decisions will be made according to the results of the competition, which "can make adjustments to preliminary estimates, both in terms of the composition of participants and in terms of price." Leadership to companies will help to ensure the best price-quality ratio of their products, as well as - a guarantee of its delivery within a specified time, said Reiman.

Pilot launch of the program will begin in three regions of Russia. In April-May 2007, the ministry will sum up the first results of its implementation in order to correct and decide how best to develop the program. According to Reiman, “Computer is in every home” will stimulate the spread of the Internet in Russia.
