Development of an information portal for your own region

We develop information portal of Transbaikalia on patriotic patriotism :) Under the cut all the thoughts and questions.

A long time ago I have been carrying out the idea of ​​creating my own Internet project that is useful for people in our region (I decided to start small). After analyzing the portals of our region, I noticed that we do not have a website where people could read about events in the Trans-Baikal Territory that are not related to politics and finance. For example, concerts of local groups, competitions (extreme sports and not only), fashion parties ... Only about official events organized either by the administration or close to it.
Therefore, we decided to make a portal where people can enter events themselves , write announcements about them, reports, etc., etc. Along the way, we also want to tie up a lot of services, for example: rating of restaurants, auto-market of the city, themed blogovvkuka (ala Habr, only for our region) ... Users should add information about events themselves (hi Web 2.0), since we’re not keeping track of everything condition (but no one has canceled our work as organizers). Let us dwell only on this, we will continue to develop the project, if it is of interest to visitors.
The name is “ ZabLIVE ”. Zab - Zabaykalsky Krai, live - live, “live broadcast”. The domain name is zablive.ru (also zablife.ru, as the words are consonant). Colors are taken from the flag of the region (logo above).
Since we are not idealists and we are well aware that you cannot drive a bunch of people to the portal right away, we decided to make the next feint with our ears - as a project for people (one of the mottos of the project “ People of your city ”), users should also participate in the development of the project for this we will launch a small project in a week, à la the developers blog , on which we will post the work process, accept proposals, launch voting for users with questions or not do this and that ... Generally, working actively with people, for whom do it.
There are already several people who are willing to actively participate, these are representatives of various subcultures of our city: extreme sports, rockers, photographers, and a tattoo artist.

Here are the questions: are our decisions correct? Where are the mistakes? What else needs to be done from the training?
