Linux4one distribution for Acer Aspire One subnote released

Because I’m the lucky owner of Acer Aspire One, and I’m writing to share the news with everyone: an alternative specialized Linux distribution has been developed for the Acer Aspire One subnoute that is bundled with the Linux distribution Linpus , which takes into account all the hardware features of the device and is adapted to run on an SSD drive or to run with external USB flash.

The new Linux4one distribution is based on Ubuntu 8.04.1 and the Ubuntu Netbook Remix platform.

Of the applications included in the kit, you can note:

* Firefox 3, Opera - web browser;
* Pidgin - instant messaging;
* GNOME Cheese - webcam control;
* Thunderbird - email client;
* Amarok , Rhythmbox - media player;
* Lifrea - a program for reading RSS feeds;
* F-Spot - photo management;
* OpenOffice.org 3.0 - office suite;
* FBReader - reading books;
* Software to work as a GPS navigator;
* NetworkManager - GUI to configure network connections and wifi;
* UI Framework - GTK + based user interface for Mobile Internet Device;
