Perhaps we will not dwell on the technical description of the phone. I will try to comment on several "myths" that arise when reading some reviews or reviews. At once I would like to say that reviews like “phone wiped out, slows down, clumsy, squeaks, you are all fools here” most often leave those who have never held a device in their hands. So, let's begin.
  1. Phone strongly "slows down."
    - It depends on what is meant by this word. Yes, the phone sometimes “thinks” for 1-2 seconds, at this moment you will most often see a banal black screen, and then calmly work. This happens if you have more than 10-15 open applications. The accelerometer works for 5, it takes less than a second to rotate the screen.
  2. Very little workable software.
    - It's not quite like that. For me, it’s fundamentally the presence of a browser, ICQ and a Jabber-client, a reader program, a convenient file manager. All this can be found for the 5800, you do not have to experience functionality problems.
  3. Due to the lack of buttons with the phone is very inconvenient to work.
    - I will just say. Two or three days after buying the phone, you will begin to hate the mechanical keyboard. Habituation occurs so quickly that you will not even notice.
  4. The phone has a bad camera.
    - Under different shooting conditions, the camera in the device produces images of a completely different level. Yes, sometimes the camera does not shine, but often this is due to autofocus. The video device shoots perfectly.
  5. "Raw" firmware.
    -In this version of the firmware (10) there really are some flaws. But they do not affect the functionality of the phone. In January, a new version of the firmware (12) will be released, which can be updated free of charge through the Nokia Software Updater.

First of all, I would like to say that it was extremely difficult to buy this phone, especially in the first weeks. In small cities such as mine (Kaluga), the phones were delivered in batches of 3-5 pieces, dismantled them all on the first day. But omit the details. Having obtained the coveted box, I, first of all, checked the phone for authenticity. For what I checked IMEI, dialing * # 06 # - and compared whether it matches the number on the box. Then I called the Nokia hotline (8-800-700-2222) and dictated IMEI to them, after which I was assured that the phone was genuine, and I proceeded to study the device.

After checking the equipment, I turned on the phone. The download is really fast, it takes about 20-30 seconds to wait. Immediately we are welcomed by the setup wizard, which helps us set the date and time, the phone language, and also transfer data from the old Nokia phone (calendar events, for example). After that comes a message from MyNokia, a service that offers support, tips and tricks for your phone. The service is free, so just click to accept.
The device itself lies comfortably in the hand, the sides at the edges of the screen do not allow it to scratch if it lies on the table, and at the same time do not interfere with work with the phone. The red strip (or blue) is not striking, but it looks quite beautiful, especially in good light. It is convenient to work both right-handed and left-handed. True, when typing on a full-screen keyboard, a large distance to the screen sometimes leads to inconvenience, corny fingers do not reach.
On the front side of the device there are only three keys - reception and cancellation of the call, as well as the button to enter the menu, it also brings up a list of running applications. On the sides are the volume control buttons, the slide key responsible for locking the phone, the camera button. On the other hand, two plugs, under which are hidden slots for SIM cards and memory cards.
The back panel is easily removed, but firmly fixed enough. The stylus is not attached to the body of the phone, but to this panel itself, which gives a more secure fit. On top of the two connectors - charging and 3.5 headphone jack, plug, under which is the connector for the cable, as well as the on / off button of the phone. On the screen there is a touch button XpressMusic, a camera for video calls, and a sensor responsible for locking the screen during a conversation.
The phone menu is simple and clear, two types of display - a list and icons, of course, you can move, replace and delete icons. Changing modes occurs with one click, access to the calendar is just as easy.


You can set one of two active standby modes (4 links to contacts or 4 links to applications), or you can opt out of them altogether.

It is convenient to work without a stylus, with your finger, all the icons are quite large. Access to the most necessary functions of the phone (Internet, player, video, gallery) with one click


The phone works fast. As I have already said, brakes are possible when the phone is heavily loaded, in all other cases it does not slow down at all, opens applications quickly, does not hang. For a whole month I have never had to reboot it by removing the battery.
The sound quality is at a height, the speakers even give out low frequencies. Naturally available various equalizer settings, you can change them, customize them.
The quality of communication also does not cause complaints. GPS works well, for launch, communication with 6 satellites is enough, the error for such a device is quite small - from 5 to 50 meters.
