Corbina Telecom has completed the main stage of construction of a broadband access network in Moscow. Of the 180 thousand subscribers that the company
intended to connect by the end of the year, the Home Internet project managed to cover about 120 thousand.
Accordingly, plans to cover 90% of residential buildings in the capital are also not translated into reality - instead of the planned 27 thousand buildings, Corbina connected 20 thousand to its network (the average connection speed is 1.3 Gbit / s). According to Alexander Malis, the company's senior vice president, bureaucratic obstacles have prevented the operator. They could not reach an agreement with local housing offices,
Vedomosti reports , but the leadership of Corbina is going to resolve all these issues in the next two years. At the moment, the company's fiber-optic network (4,500 km) covers 97 of 119 districts of Moscow.
One way or another, the achievements of Corbina recorded a more than sixfold increase in the subscriber base for the year - last December she had only about 18 thousand people. This is taking into account the fact that this year is characterized by a slowdown in the rate of growth of broadband connections - for the market as a whole, taking into account connections from ADSL and Ethernet providers. For
example, J'son & Partners analysts
promise a 45% growth in the home broadband market in Moscow, with a volume of $ 195 million this year. Recall, according to their forecasts, the number of broadband connections in the capital should be about 1020 thousand, i.e. 26% of all households.

This year, the provider spent $ 42 million on the implementation of the “Home Internet” project. In 2007, the investment will be $ 25 million, and 300,000 Internet users will be served. By 2009, they want to increase their number to 500,000.
The company’s management expects these investments to pay off in three years. While the average bill per user (ARPU) is $ 20.2 per month. Obviously, the rate will increase when the triple play services, for which the provider makes the main bet, will be fully introduced. These services - the sale of Internet access, television and telephony in a single package. In the near future, the company plans to launch IP-television (March 2007) and high-definition television (HDTV) with a picture resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and multi-channel surround sound Dolby 5.1.
Another priority area for Corbina in 2007-2008 will be development in the regions. It is planned to build a network of broadband access in 12 European cities of Russia. “In 2007, Corbina Telecom will focus on entering the regions and the beginning of the active promotion of IP telephony and IP television,” says company vice president Dmitry Malov.
