Imena.ua , being the national registrar of domains in Ukraine, acquired 50% of
the Ukrainian Banner Network (UBS) business. According to Alexander Olshansky, the head of Imena.ua, the interests of the investor lie in the field of commercialization of the banner advertising market UAnet, where the company is going to take the position of a “neutral agent”. It is reported by the news agency
"Unian" .
The parties do not disclose the amount of the transaction. It is known, however, that the shares purchased by the domain registrar were owned by private individuals.
Oleksiy Mas, head of UBS, told the newspaper
Kommersant Ukraine that his company plans to increase the volume of banner impressions 30 times in three years. “We plan to make quite serious investments in the development of UBS,” Olshansky noted in turn. According to him, thirty-fold growth will be achieved by attracting new participating sites to the network and increasing market liquidity. According to
ITua.Info , it is planned to take the designated threshold of impressions through integration into the banner network of auction systems. “The auction system is more competitive,” said Mas.

In addition, partners are planning to work on the monetization of illiquid remnants of banner-shows accumulated by network members. Also in a separate direction will highlight the support and development of thematic subnets, the experience of which UBS already has.
Commenting on the current situation in the Ukrainian banner advertising market, Alexander Olshansky said that the “cheating” in networks make up 2% of the total number of hits. “This is largely due to the high commission in banner networks,” he said. In the process of joint work, Imena.ua and UBN are going to introduce some developments that allow reducing the percentage of markups, which in turn will lead to a lower commission.
Ukrainian Banner Network was created on January 30, 1999. This is one of the first banner networks in UAnet. It is also one of the most extensive: today, UBN includes about 10 thousand sites. UBS consists of the main network and several thematic - “Automotive”, “Advertising”, “Kiev”, “Crimea”, “Tourist”.
