The British
KTN Association, which brings together experts in the field of computer security,
turned to experts on human behavior , including psychologists, sociologists, marketers, experts in religion, sects, as well as design and ergonomics.
The KTN Association issued a grant of £ 50,000 (about $ 100,000) for the creation of a special working group and assigned it the task of finding new ideas for computer security from other disciplines. "Specialists in people" completely different professions know human nature from different sides. They can really help.
As is known, most hacks in any computer system are caused by human factors. First, bad passwords memory. Someone wrote the password and attached it on the monitor or stored in an unencrypted file, someone told their ICQ password (Histori “ICQ” is usually stored in a text file), someone even uses the same password on different services . In general, users maliciously ignore the basic rules of computer security, and the security department cannot do anything about it. No training courses and educational programs do not work! People do not want to memorize ten-digit passwords from random combinations of characters. Obviously, you need to look for some other way.
Bad symbol memory is not the only problem of the human brain. There are other shortcomings, because of which the security of computer systems suffers greatly. For example, vulnerability to "social hacking", when people are willing to voluntarily give the interlocutor secret information (for example, a password). People easily fall into trance, are vulnerable to neuro-linguistic programming, the effects of the opposite sex and many other factors. Because of this, the peculiarities of their nature, people very poorly store information and are happy to be ready to inform its first comer.

Another big problem is unsafe user behavior when communicating online. Consultations of experts will allow computer scientists to create software and systems of a new generation, taking into account the peculiarities of human psychology. The main goal is that the system can be used even by a completely inexperienced user and at the same time he would be protected as much as possible.
The results of the KTN team will be published in early 2007.
