Mac OS X Tiger on eee PC 701

The background was the acquisition by a colleague at a reasonable price of the netbook Asus eee PC 701 (4G) . Well, I wanted something like that (here we need to reproduce the rubbing gesture with the thumb of the index and middle). Of pervert sports interest decided unanimously to install on it Mac OS.

Hardware-n-software requirements

To install you will need:

• eee PC 701 - 1 pc .;
• image Uphuck 10.4.9 Universal DVD (4.37 GiB) ¹ - 1 pc .;
• external DVD drive - 1 pc .;
• iSclip (also modified clerical, cleared of isolation, if any) - 1 pc .;
• Passatizhi (for the guidance of beauty and convenience) - 1 pc .;
• drinks and snacks to taste.

Installation

So, we collect everything in one place.



We insert a modified i-clip as shown in the figure (without it, the most important thing will be earned by the OS itself):



We turn everything on, boot from the USB drive, start the installation:



In the process of installation, we format the sections, select the necessary components (see section “Ref. To”), wait for the end:

Then the most difficult part of the installation begins - OS customization. Everything would be fine, but the controls of the wizard do not fit into the screen, you have to use Tab + arrows, not knowing exactly which elements are in the invisible part of the screen (however, see the “Ref. To” section). But, a little patience ... and she spins ©!

When purchasing an eee PC, do not forget about the drive to it :-)



It remains only to reduce the clip with pliers so that it does not protrude from the connector.

So ...

Total, that we have with elk:

1. The built-in Wi-Fi does not work (the problem is solved by installing a mini-PCI Dell wireless adapter - see the “Ref. to” section);
2. LAN does not work;
3. the music is playing, the video is hellishly slow ( Perian partially solves the problem, but the brakes don't care);
4. Quartz Extreme and Core Image are supported out of the box, the interface effects do not just slow down (for example, minimizing the application in the Dock), but work slowly , although it looks fascinating and even beautiful;
5. sometimes control elements climb under Doc (it can be done less than on the “screenshot”);

I summarize: after installation, we received a leisurely typewriter capable of playing music and reading / editing texts previously uploaded to it. The installation itself was made solely out of sports interest, however, a colleague is not complaining, like :-). If someone tells you how to beat the brakes of the video, it would be absolutely fine.
