We have already
talked about the technology of wireless power transmission. Since the time of
Nikola Tesla, all innovations in this field have remained at the level of promising inventions. Although there are attempts to put technology on an industrial basis, but all
existing products are incompatible with each other. However, now we are closer than ever to creating a single standard.
Eight major technology companies
announced the creation of a technology consortium
Wireless Power Consortium , which will have to develop a unified standard for wireless transmission of energy. If such a standard is adopted, then we can expect the first industrial products to appear on the market: batteries that are charged through the air, charging devices that transmit energy by half a meter, and so on.
The founders of the alliance were Philips, Sanyo, Texas Instruments, Logitech, National Semiconductor, Shenzhen Sang Fei Consumer Communications, ConvenientPower and Fulton Innovation.
