MegaFon: GPRS-optimizer
MegaFon is commissioning new equipment that enables the optimization of GPRS / EDGE / 3G traffic. Traffic compression can occur without any additional settings on the subscriber side (absolutely transparent), or with the help of software additionally installed on the client, like toonel.net or Traffic Compressor . According to the results of testing, in the first case the average increase in speed was achieved at 30%, in the second - 100% (i.e., it was twice as fast).
Based on these possibilities, a new service is being prepared, but I still do not know how it will be done. Perhaps - the tariff option, perhaps - a separate tariff, perhaps - just turn on all subscribers immediately and for free. The timing of the appearance of the opportunity is not yet known precisely - but, apparently, very soon, perhaps in January.
I'd add that no one bothers to use the same toonel.net now. However, none of the programs I have tested gives such compression, plus the entire server of the tunnel and its ilk are constantly loaded - and with the proposed solution, there is no need to fear this.
