I start, as usual, from the beginning, that is, from the topic about the chain of paths through the site. The translation may seem a bit clumsy, but it conveys general thoughts. So let's go.
Problem
The user needs to be able to go up the site navigation (right up to the main page), to understand in which part of the site it is located and how this page relates to others. ')
When to use
If this page is not in the first place in the hierarchy of the site.
If the user can not navigate the site using other navigation tools. For example, if the page is quite deep in the hierarchy of the site, bread crumbs can become the easiest and most convenient way to provide navigation.
The user got to the page from some external source (for example, from a page with search results) and he needs to understand where this page is located.
Solutions
Display horizontally a chain of page labels starting from the main page and ending with the one on which the user is currently located.
Labels
Where possible, the label should be named the same as the page to which it refers.
Use capitalization rules for labels.
Separate labels from each other by “more” (>).
The title of the current page is the last link in the chain path through the site.
Do not use the word “Home” for the first label. Instead, use a specific page name, such as Weather, Travel, etc.
Links
All labels are links except the last (which denotes the title of the current page).
The "more" sign and spaces on both sides of it should in no case be references.
The link display style should not depend on whether the user clicked on it earlier or not.
Other
Never display a chain of paths on a site on a page that is first in this chain.
Sometimes the chain path through the site corresponds to the history of visits to the site, but in fact it is not.
Logics
The site path chain provides the context position relative to the rest of the site.
The chain path through the site provides a way to move up the site hierarchy.
Availability
Each label in the chain path on the site should coincide as much as possible with the title of the corresponding page.
Navigate the labels of the navigation chain with the Tab key.
In the case of navigation through the chain using the keyboard, clicking on the link should be done with the Enter key.
Unfortunately, not enough karma to post posts on the main. I would be grateful if someone throws.
