The Habré has repeatedly published the results of the MAMA (Metadata Analysis and Mining Application) search engine from Opera (for more information about the project, you can
read in English
here ). December 12,
another article devoted to the results of the work of MAMA. The article is entitled "MAMA: Scripting report, part 1: Basic scripting syntax and features".
Among other results, I would like to discuss the so-called table "The most popular DHTML menus and libraries found by MAMA." Table and a few comments under the cut.
Comments:
- The most interesting thing for me personally is the fact that jQuery is almost two times less popular than Prototype;
- the fact that the Google Analytics script is on a huge number of pages (for sure you, like me, use it) is not at all surprising;
- It is much more surprising to me that some unprecedented number of processed URLs contain DHTML elements based on Macromedia.
Based on the table, the following thoughts emerged: while many break spears about the best js framework, compare them, try to optimize, the world seems to do quite well without any frameworks, realizing the dynamics on the site through such things as dhtml menus, built including via Dreamweaver. Obviously, this table aimed to collect information about such mechanisms, but the comparison with jQuery and Prototype is simply amazing: they are used together 12 times less often than using the menu built on “MM_” functions.

What does the venerable public consider? Should we take these figures seriously, and do they have any meaning at all?
