A way to get a copy of a passport (another kidal mutation)

Currently, many online services (working with finance) use a scanned copy of his passport as proof of the user's identity. These services include billing systems, domain registrars, and payment systems.
Today I received an interesting letter to our corporate address (job@nasdomain.com), which is used to accept resumes from candidates for our vacancies. I quote the content of the letter:

Hello!
We reviewed your resume on the website www.rabota.ru , and you are quite suitable for us. You will be contacted by a HR manager and you will need to be interviewed. To confirm your data posted on the website www.rabota.ru and for security purposes, we ask you to send to our email address nefte_stroy@mail.ru a photocopy of the first page of your passport, as well as a photocopy of your registration. Full information about our company you can find on site www.rabota.ru .

Appropriately, many people who are now looking for work will receive such letters, and perhaps someone happy promising, without hesitation will send a copy of their passport. Which will then be used to create bogus accounts on various services, which then, in turn, will be used for different types of fraudulent activities.
