Dell OptiPlex 160, code name: "little pisyuk"

More recently, to be precise last week, Dell introduced the new OptiPlex 160 in the tiny-tower form factor. This PC is intended for the corporate business market, as well as the education sector, although it certainly can appeal to those who are struggling to save space and some “greenness”, or just want to spend a romantic weekend with this micro PC and Ubuntu.

With a thickness of 4.6 cm, this machine has a fairly standard set of ports, a built-in power supply (there are no bricks hanging on the wire), but, unfortunately, it comes in minimal configuration without a built-in storage device.

The basic version, which costs $ 563, has the following characteristics: single-core Intel Atom, 80GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, embedded video and OS Vista Home Basic SP1. All this smacks strongly of the Eee Box, although the Dell product is designed for a radically different audience.

As an option, there are 64GB SSD, an external DVD-ROM, and in 2009 a dual-core Atom will appear.
