Greetings to you, dear readers!
Today I will tell you how you can make money out of thin air.
As you know, recently on the Internet spread the
news about the opening of a new domain zone “.Ukr”.
')
In the news they write that a new zone was allegedly created, completely in Cyrillic, and
“only” for 75 hryvnia, starting January 21, 2009 , you can order the registration of such a domain for yourself.
Everything seems to be wonderful, except for one interesting fact: it is not mentioned anywhere that you can get to the site in the “.ukr” zone only by installing a special plugin for your browser, and also that you cannot “promote” such a site not in one search engine for one simple reason: I will reveal to you a terrible secret - the “.” zone does not officially exist, and its creation is not planned in the near future.
The creators of this pseudo-zone use the
i-dns technology, which is widely known in narrow circles.
A bit of history so that uninformed readers can understand the essence:
Decisions on the DNS system are handled by the nonprofit American corporation
ICANN , established in 1998 with the participation of the US government to regulate issues related to domain names, IP addresses and other aspects of the functioning of the Internet. It is this and only this organization that can decide to create new domain zones, and until recently it was very conservative about this issue (read: it was impossible to create new zones of the first level, and even more so Cyrillic). Such behavior did not suit many, and eventually there were enthusiasts who decided to create an alternative, their own DNS system
with blackjack and whores with support for domain names in any languages (and first of all in Chinese). But bad luck, the rest of the Internet could not find out about these zones without posting information about them on the root DNS servers, which are all managed by ICANN. Therefore, it was decided to write a special program - a plan for browsers, so that they, in search of domains, besides accessing real root servers, also applied to “alternative” servers. And the name of this technology is i-dns.
Recently, the situation in ICANN has changed, and at a
recently held conference it was decided that international domains would be entered. One of the first Cyrillic zones, the opening of which is scheduled for 2009, is the Russian zone “.”.
The creators of the “.ukr” and “.blog” zones did not want to follow the official procedure for creating first-level domains, but chose a simpler option - to use the alternative system of the “i-dns” domains. That is why such domains are not available to all who have not installed a special add-on (iclient plugin), it is also not possible to index them in any search engine (since such zones do not exist in the official domain name system).
Therefore, dear readers, be careful. Do not be fooled. Do not pay for air.
PS Do you know a lot of sites in the Cyrillic zone “.com”? And they are;)
