One of FireFox developers, Blake Ross, plans to create a web-based operating system, Parakey, which will simultaneously be based locally on the user's computer and on the Internet.
According to Ross , Parakey can do everything that a regular OS does, while users can use one universal interface and work with it instead of two. “It's a great way to create and store all your data,” says Ross.

The creators plan to use the principles of OpenSource in the development of the system, revealing all the code, or at least a significant part of it.

According to Blake Ross and co-founder of the company, Joe Hewitt, Parakey will be a universal platform that exists simultaneously on the Internet and on the user's personal computer. The network part of Parakey will interact with the local, while ensuring synchronization of content. Through Parakey, users will be able to post on the Internet absolutely any information, be it video, music, text or photos. Other users of the Network will have access only to the public part of Parakey and will not be able to directly interact with someone else's computer.
To work with Parakey, you first need to download a small application that turns your computer into a kind of server. Next, the user will need to create a personal page, for example, dave.parakey.com, where you can post any materials. The process of downloading or deleting files will be carried out through a unified interface, and users can make changes even offline. Subsequently, when connected to the Network, Parakey automatically synchronizes information.
