New data transfer chip for 4G

LG has announced the release of the world's first 3GPP LTE chip, which is designed for use in cell phones and memory cards. It was created according to the LTE standard - a new technology for building wireless networks, which is already called 4G, which is characterized by high data transfer rates.

The new LG chip, whose dimensions are 13x13 mm, is capable of receiving data at speeds up to 50 Mbit per second, and sending it at speeds of 20 Mbit per second. The theoretical capabilities of LTE (300 Mbps incoming and 75 Mbps outgoing) are still far away. But the standard HSDPA with its speed of 7.6 Mbit per second, LG has already surpassed.

At the moment, however, the development of LG is not in the business. And it can be considered simply as a prototype. The thing is that the networks of the “fourth generation” are still in their infancy. Thus, LTE networks will even be deployed in Japan only by 2010, even in Japan. And even our 3G networks are not really developed yet.
