GMail now with To-Do sheets

Gmail tasks The popular mail service GMail, in the wake of the success of various To-Do applications such as “Remember The Milk”, introduces its own GTD lists into the mail.

Officially announced today, the possibility of maintaining "reminders" is called the "Task Manager", which, incidentally, is not surprising. This function is implemented in the form of a small and elegant field, intended for clear purposes. Tasks can be created (on a specific date and without time), reorganized, deleted completed, put into new sheets. There is also the opportunity to bring the To-Do sheet into a separate window in order not to be tied to the GMail.

Apparently, the function is currently available only in the English version of the service, or Google traditionally introduces this feature gradually for all users. To enable To-Do sheets, you must first go to the settings and tick the box next to the “Tasks” function. After this procedure, those who use the English version, in the letter box, in the drop-down list of “More actions” (More actions) will appear the field “Add to Tasks”.

For people who are constantly using the GMail web interface, this innovation will undoubtedly prove useful - now any letter can be marked as “task” and put in line for execution. True, there is no possibility to share these GTD lists with other users, or send them by e-mail. In addition, it looks somewhat strange that having marked a new task, it is not automatically added to the calendar - there is no such possibility in principle. Nevertheless, it’s joyful that the favorite mailer doesn’t stand still and introduces new useful functions, it remains to wait for the appearance of To-Do in the Russian version.

In the meantime, Remember The Milk has its own add-on for GMail .

UPD: The function is available to everyone, you can just enable it only in labs, in the English version of the interface. After returning to the Russian interface, the “Tasks” link will appear (below the address book).
