HP and ASU represent flexible display, return to scrolls

Four years after the opening of the Arizona State University Flexible Display Center ( ASU Flexible Display Center ), researchers, together with the HP laboratory, presented the first working prototype of a flexible display made using SAIL technology (self-aligned imprint lithography - self-managed lithography).

Compared to the E-Ink technology, these “roll-up” displays are simpler and cheaper to produce, they are more environmentally friendly and, importantly, much more resistant to external influences - according to HP representatives, it’s very difficult to break such a display, because 90% consists of ordinary plastic. What to say about energy consumption, which is several times lower than the indicators of any existing production technology.

So far, nothing is known about the specific dates of production, but it is quite possible that at CES 2009 you will be able to see a prototype laptop / netbook with a monitor, which is based on a flexible display.
