Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 is based on the Gecko 1.9.1 rendering platform, which has been under development for the last 7 months. Gecko 1.9.1 is an incremental release over the previous version with important changes aimed at improving web compatibility, performance and ease of use:
This beta is now available in 54 languages - download the version in your language;
New TraceMonkey JavaScript engine (https://wiki.mozilla.org/JavaScript:TraceMonkey) is now enabled by default for web content;
improvements in the Gecko markup engine, including predictive parsing for faster rendering of content;
removed a new mechanism for the behavior of switching tabs due to feedback from users;
support for new web technologies, such as video and audio tags, W3C Geolocation API, JavaScript query selectors, CSS 2.1 and CSS 3 properties, SVG transformations and offline applications.
