Responding to a question about the possible competition of the Duet product with Microsoft's existing ERP products, Alexey Shlykov, managing director of SAP in the CIS countries, noted that Microsoft’s decision to integrate Outlook with the SAP system does not contradict its strategy of promoting its own business products:
“If you look at the market from the point of view of its equipment with business management solutions, we will see that about 60% of the market is occupied by home-grown systems, and not products by well-known vendors,” Mr. Shlykov said. “Therefore, for Microsoft, which has a huge staff of its own programmers, there are many opportunities for expanding activities: now it integrates with colleagues in the market - and it is right.”
The Russian division of Microsoft Businnes Solutions is also calm about the corporation’s actual support of a competing ERP product. “Our companies continue strategic mutually beneficial partnership in the field of platform solutions,” said Vladimir Egorov, head of the Microsoft Dynamics promotion team in Russia. “At the same time, there is a healthy competition between us in the field of integrated business management solutions for medium and large companies.”
According to him, cooperation in this area with SAP corporations is one example of the fact that solution providers realize the value of integrating their systems with Microsoft Office applications. “All this confirms the correctness of the priorities we have announced for developing our own solutions for managing Microsoft Dynamics business,” notes Mr. Yegorov. - Already, they are fairly closely integrated with Microsoft Office. One example in this area is the use of Microsoft Outlook as a user interface for Microsoft Dynamics CRM. ”
