Combat drones

Surprisingly, the first UAVs appeared in the middle of the XIX century. The pioneers here were Austrians. Saving from the collapse of their empire, they went to various military tricks. One of these techniques was the air attack of Venice using unmanned aerostats. Historical thing, in one word.

Another remarkable story. The ingenious Tesla was still a genius in everything. He, as it turns out, also put his hand to the UAV technology. True, he did not achieve much success in the field of unmanned technology, but he made his modest contribution to their development.

At the beginning of the 20th century, development in the field of besplot was actively conducted by Germany, which was conducting extensive preparations for the First World War. Race picked up the United States. The latter, by the way, produced the first real unmanned aircraft - the “Beetle” Cuttering. The aircraft had good technical characteristics and had the property of a kamikaze - at the right moment dropping wings and falling on enemy positions.

To the race of UAV-weapons in the 20-30 years. joined the young Soviet state. Developed in Leningrad NIMTI. Their glider PSN-1 was launched using a carrier aircraft and could carry one torpedo.

During the Second World War, unmanned systems developed best of all in the UK and the USA. By the way, the famous British woman-pilot Amy Johnson was one of the first to test the properties of the Queen Bee aircraft, originally created on the principle of a radio-controlled unmanned vehicle.

After World War II, the main rivalry in the unmanned industry unfolded between the United States and the USSR. Their hegemony in 60-70 broke Israel, which today is considered one of the leaders of the UAV. At the end of the Cold War, the era of the development of drones in civil aviation began, which experts regard as revolutionary for the development of all mankind.
