By 2012, the Ministry of Education and Science plans to reduce to 20% of scientific institutions and by a third - the number of universities. Separately, they will be engaged in universities - this rank is planned to be retained only for fifty out of almost four hundred existing ones. The catalyst for the reform, which has been developed by the Ministry of Education and Science for a long time, was the financial crisis. Therefore, a more radical scenario is not excluded, according to which only a third of all existing scientific and educational institutions will survive.

Just think how many we have, for example, the departments of political science, which literally twenty years ago with the same composition were called the departments of historical materialism.
