Ru-Center: by the end of 2007 there will be 1 million domains in RuNet

Together with the news that from January 2007, applications for Cyrillic domains in the RU zone will begin, the accredited registrar Ru-Center also presented general information about the growth in its industry segment. Mainly quantitative indicators are given.

Now, according to the organization, 650,000 second-level domains are registered in RuNet. The growth rate of the number of registrations is high, and by the end of the year it is expected that the number of domains will exceed 700 thousand. A ruble of 1 million, according to Ru-Center forecasts, will be completed by the end of next year.

"The start of registration of Russian-speaking domains will increase the total number of names in the RU domain," the registrar states.
