The UK Advertising Standards Bureau filmed a video of an iPhone 3G phone ad (on screen). The reason for the consideration of the case were numerous complaints received from television viewers. They argued that advertising was not true. The specialists of the Bureau carried out an examination and recognized that the information in advertising is indeed false.
In particular, the advertisement repeated several times that the new iPhone 3G works “very quickly”, while the frame showed how the pages of news sites and Google Maps load in less than a second.
Apple tried to justify itself by allegedly comparing the speed of the iPhone 3G with the previous version of the iPhone, and the assertions about the speed of work are relative, not absolute. In addition, the screen was the text that "The speed of work depends on the quality of the signal." ')
However, the Bureau came to the conclusion: Apple’s advertising “creates a deceptive impression that the device’s speed in advertising is close to its real speed,” although in reality this is far from the case.
The video was taken off the air, and Apple is forbidden to release new ads of the same kind. And this is despite the fact that in the USA and other countries this video is constantly shown on various TV channels without any problems.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Apple is advertised by illegal methods and its advertising is removed from the air in the UK. The same story happened with the first version of the iPhone.
