Today, a meeting of representatives of Opera Software and students. This action took place in the walls of NTUU "KPI".
Opera spoke on: Naviet Pavera (Navjot Pawera) (Product Manager, Consumer Products Division), Uliana Kumenova (Distribution Department Manager) and Ilya Shpankov (Development Manager).
They started as always from afar ... with the questions “Does anyone know about web standards?” Either the audience was tired after the couple, or few people knew about them - there were no mountains of hands.
Having understood and carried out explanatory work on what standards are and why they are important to follow, we went on to show Dragonfly, an analogue of Firebug for Opera. Navitot demonstrated remote debug.

Next, a few words about GIF and PNG, and then about 20 minutes was given to SVG. Various video effects were shown in SVG, a small video in SVG and a shooter demo (only moving around the map) resembling CS =) Showing that the SVG is an XML file of many parasites. Especially a few dozen lines required to create examples.
After the main part, questions began. They promised that very soon there would be version 10, they said that they did not consider Google as their competitor (?) And at the same time scolded that he could become a monopolist (if I didn’t understand so well, correct it, but the ambiguity could be traced). There was a unique statement that Opera ranks first in the top of browsers in the CIS and the world in general, in second place is IE, FF is on the third and Google Chrome has less than 0.02% of the market ... This is the assessment.
They invited everyone to the Opera Campus Crew and at the end distributed gifts (pen and notebook).
