AllofMP3.com accuses America of "speculation"

The leadership of AllofMP3.com has radically responded to allegations of piracy, which the Western music industry does not tire of. One of the conditions for Russia's entry into the WTO, as is known, is the closure of AllofMP3.com, and this fact was the key in the case of Vadim Mamotin, CEO of Mediaservices (owns AllofMP3.com). "The US government uses AllofMP3.com only as a pretext to achieve new concessions from Russia," these were his words, reports AFP .

Meanwhile, AllofMP3.com does not deny that it does not make direct contributions to the western owners. But it should be clarified - the business of the Russian online merchant is still legal in the camp where he works. The company allocates 15% of its own revenues to the POMC organizations (Russian Society for Multimedia and Digital Networks), which exercises collective rights management. True, British and American record labels refuse to accept this money, Computerworld cites Mamotin.

“We work according to the Russian law, pay taxes in Russia and deduct royalties to ROMS,” said the Director General of Mediaservices. According to him, irritated authors may ask ROMS to remove their works from AllofMP3.com catalog, but few have actually done so.

In his further reasoning, Vadim Mamotin holds an idealistic position, criticizing the market order. He insists that AllofMP3 is much closer to the interests of musicians than commercial record companies. “Let's start with the fact that record companies have no special relation to the majority of musicians,” says Mamlotin. They focus on making money for themselves - not for musicians. In our opinion, both we and the authors would be better off by interacting directly with each other. ”

“However, Vadim Mamotin didn’t specify why authors should choose his 15 percent deductions, given that AllofMP3.com sells very cheaply,” Computerworld is surprised. “For example, on this site a price of $ 2.69 was set for Justin Timberlake’s album, while American online retailers sell the album for $ 13.99.”
