However, one of the most emotional and expressive spheres of human activity — art — is still beyond his control. Or not? This is what we offered to solve for the guests of the closed exhibition, which is located in the Museum of Russian Impressionism for one day on May 29.

AI Microsoft wrote a picture of the composition "At the dawn" of the group "Alliance"

Microsoft presented a picture written by artificial intelligence based on the song of the Alliance group “At the Dawn”. The algorithm is based on the principles of synergy of music and painting, described by the great abstractionist Vasily Kandinsky. Performance "NeuroKandinsky"

Microsoft's generative neural network analyzed the painting of the great abstractionist Vasily Kandinsky and musical compositions that inspired him. This allowed the artificial mind to identify patterns in the works of the artist. Kandinsky advocated a synthesis of the arts: music and painting. Abstract paintings he created under the influence of works of Wagner, Scriabin, Schönberg and other composers. We asked the neural network to create a completely new work of art, synthesizing the style of Wassily Kandinsky's letter and the song of the group At the Dawn. See the result.

Painting Using machine learning algorithms, artificial intelligence learns to find and recognize objects in a picture - faces, animals, various objects. Then, using the knowledge gained, he independently “paints” pictures based on existing images, recreating the artistic styles of such famous artists as Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Edvard Munch, and others. Neural networks even create their own paintings that are sold at auctions for hundreds of thousands dollars. One of the most famous projects in this area, about which we have already written earlier, is the “Next Rembrandt” .

Literature . Once our chat bot wrote poems in Chinese , but we decided to do something close to Russian readers. Using to prepare thousands of examples of works of art, including the prose of A.P. Chekhov and Russian folklore, artificial intelligence in the cloud Microsoft Azure wrote stories and tales. A rare opportunity to see how the process of creating text by artificial intelligence.

At the end of the exhibition, visitors were offered to think and choose from the proposed examples which texts, pictures and music were created by a person, and which ones - by artificial intelligence. In some cases, it was simply impossible to identify the author.

The final chord of the event was a discussion about whether AI can be considered the creator of an art object, or whether creativity is subject only to man. The speakers were:
