When Microsoft announced the “younger brother” of Windows Server 2008 - Server Core, it was clearly stated that there would not be support for the .NET Framework. However, the
necessary changes were
made to the release of Windows Server 2008 R2, and among other things, the following options became available:
* A subset of the .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5, including WCF, WF and LINQ.
* Powershell
And of course, IIS in this edition will now support ASP.NET sites.
