Cheap way to simulate getting a bullet in a person
We in our independent studio "KinoKafe" are now engaged in the production of a new short film action movie . Since there is almost no money, and Napoleonic plans, we try to make everything as simple and cheap as possible, but without compromising quality. In particular, we thought for a long time how to simulate a bullet hitting the human body (without this in an action movie - nowhere). Looked on the Internet, found a wonderful guide .
The bottom line is this. A condom is taken, pre- cooked blood is poured into it, the condom is washed off from the lubricant, tied, and a puck is attached to it with a fishing line attached to it. Then, when the glue dries up, the condom sticks to the person. Then you just need to just pull the line in time - the blood spurts. Very simple, but very effective way, which is important, does not require special skills (in contrast to the pyrotechnics used in large cinema).
We decided to try, but at the same time to test hromakey (we didn’t particularly bother with its illumination, therefore, in terms of separating a person from the background, it turned out so-so). Among the main disadvantages of our sample: when a person is shot, too much blood is splashed out (it will be necessary to fill in smaller condoms) and you can see the thread that is pulled (this is just a test, so I didn’t bother with frame-by-frame erasing). In any case, in these videos you can understand the big picture. ')
In the second case, we decided to try to depict a bullet hit a person without clothes - when there is no place to hide the mechanism. I had to take a picture of the actor in a natural form, and then in post-production I would impose over tape and a condom with blood.
Findings:
After Effects is a great program :-)
Keylight is a great plugin to separate the object from the chroma background (and it is already built into After Effects);
Physical special effects always look alive computer (especially blood);
Even hits from bullets can be done almost for free.
