A rectifying circuit converts alternating current into direct current. This conversion is critical for household appliances. The alternating current comes from the sockets, and the constant is needed for computers and other microelectronics. The alternating current direction alternates between the negative and positive direction. But the direct current flows in one direction. In order to do this, there is a diode. A semi-wave rectifier can be assembled from a single diode. I have assembled a circuit yn as the current source transformer from the old radio connected to 220V. It lowers the voltage to 5 volts.
