If you ask about the movies about computers and hackers you know, then most likely the first answer will be “Hackers”. The “Matrix” is of course also held in high esteem, but it is more fantastic.
And today I reviewed an old (1983) film “War Games” and thought, why is it so rarely mentioned?
After all, there is an assortment of hacking (I’m really not an expert and I can’t estimate its likelihood), and social engineering (when the main character picks up the computer password after learning the developer’s son’s name) and brute force (when the computer picked up the access codes for the missiles) , and wardialing (when the main character phoned all the phones in a row in search of modems) and finally a real AI named Joshua :)
The film fairly reliably describes DEFCON - the scale of military readiness of the US Army. It is rumored that it was after this film that the world famous hacker conference acquired its name.
A combat system, described in the film, was the basis of the game Defcon .
